You start to overuse or abuse something to help alleviate your symptoms ie. substances, shopping, eating, working, exercise, and any other short term energy releasing behavior. People have noticed and mentioned to you that you seem to need someone to talk too. If you have experienced a traumatic experience and it is causing difficulty with daily life. Does going to therapy make me weak and not able to handle my own issues?

When we are in the middle of a challenging time in our lives we sometimes feel that by asking for help is a sign of weakness. On the contrary, it takes a strong person to reach out and ask for help and guidance. It takes hard work to get through difficult times. It takes a courageous person to  reach out and ask someone to help walk that journey. It allows you to be in charge and know that you have support and guidance on that journey. Counseling empowers you to become the best advocate for increasing independence and well being for yourself.
